2009
Minneapolis St. Paul Print International
There are many reasons why an International Exhibition is successful
year after year. The participation keeps growing in spite of a
failing economy worldwide. I will try to elicit a few of those
reasons here.
I work with a group of dedicated volunteers such as Bob Dachelet,
who gives his time generously, and efficiently attends to the unpacking,
packing, and various other functions of print management; Laura
Davies, who diligently does the data entry for the catalog and
proof reading for the images; Walter Horishnyk, who unflinchingly
works on the catalog website http://www.mspprintcircuit.org/ and
does a host of other techno-savvy functions. I do my share of work,
with the support of my wife, Jay Karai, who provides me with moral
and philosophical guidance, in addition to making program CD’s
of this Exhibition. Then there are the Judges and volunteers who
help out on the judging days. Did I mention the ever increasing
patrons of the exhibition, you, who are the biggest reason that
this exhibition is successful!
Very
often when technology is applied in the art arena, it takes over
some parts of the creativity. Photography, on the other hand,
has taken the digital technology and assimilated it to explore
new levels of creativity. You can see the flow of the creative
work in this carefully crafted catalog. As I finish the last of
the work related to this catalog, rather than relaxing with a sigh
of relief, I am actually looking forward to next years’ exhibition.
Hope to see your work then.
We
have made a few changes to the exhibition. In order to keep pace
with the cost of running the exhibition this year, we have done
away with the gift pen. We have also reduced the entry fee, especially
in the ‘non return’ option of the prints. Hope
you can take advantage of it.
Wish you a very successful 2009 and
hope to see your new work in 2010.

We
dedicate this catalog to Dennis Poeschel who passed on, while
waiting for a heart transplant. His love for photography was boundless.
Our prayers are with his family. |
